City Council Member Appointment
Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Rockford City Council. The vacated council seat has a term beginning upon council appointment and ending December 31st, 2026. Qualified residents of the City of Rockford with an interest in local government and the greater Rockford community are encouraged to apply.  

To be qualified to serve on the City Council, you must be a U.S. Citizens, being 21 years of age or older, be eligible to vote and have been residents of the City of Rockford for the past thirty days. MINN. STAT. §204B.06, Subd. 1. 

To apply: Submit an application and attach any supporting documentation you would like the Council to consider, and return the same to City Hall no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, January 24th, 2025.  The Council will meet with all applicants prior to the regular City Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 28th, 2025.  After discussion and review, the City Council may vote to appoint someone to fill the vacancy. 


Planning and Zoning Commission Member Appointment

Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Rockford Planning and Zoning Commission. Qualified residents of the City of Rockford with an interest in local government and the greater Rockford community are encouraged to apply.

The Planning Commission is appointed by the Mayor with Council. The Planning & Zoning Commission is charged with enforcement of the City’s Zoning Ordinance and serves as an advisory board making recommendations to the Council. The Planning Commission makes recommendations and proposals on plans and policy to help guide future development of City lands. Planning Commissions duties are set forth in City Ordinance Section 1004. The Planning & Zoning Commission also acts as the Board of Zoning Appeals & Adjustments.

Parks and Recreation Commission Member Appointment

The Rockford Parks & Recreation Commission meets the first Monday of every other month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 6031 Main Street, Rockford, MN 55373. The scope of the activity of this Commission consists of advising the City Council and other city advisory commissions regarding matters relevant to the parks and recreational functions of the city. The general purpose of this five-member Commission is to monitor and reflect the attitudes and concerns of the citizens of the city relative to the parks system, policy matters, and recreational programs.
