Proposed Ordinances
Ordinances, collectively called “City Codes”, are the set of local laws that provide governance and direction of the City and its affairs.
Ordinances generally govern matters not already covered by state or federal laws. An ordinance is considered the most authoritative form of action taken by a city council, and once adopted, the ordinance becomes an established law in the City of Rockford.
The majority of ordinances in Rockford deal with maintaining public health, safety, and welfare, or zoning and guidance on new construction; direct personnel, and even regulate the fees for utility services.
